Angela Hijjas and Hijjas Kasturi have constructed a new resort hotel, The Kasturi, at Pantai Chendor, Pahang, north of Cherating on the East Coast of Peninsula Malaysia. They have also opened a hatchery for endangered marine turtles on the beach site, buying turtle eggs from locals (mostly Green Turtles, Chelonia mydas), incubating them until they hatch, and releasing the hatchlings into the sea. An estimated 1 in 1,000 hatchlings will reach maturity, when the females will return to this beach to lay their own eggs.
If you have inquiries about visiting the hatchery or turtle release season, please contact Pak Su who runs it – via his Facebook by phone at +6013 906 4828 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also contact him via the official Rimbun Dahan Turtle Hatchery Facebook page and join the Rimbun Dahan Turtle Hatchery Support Group, also on Facebook.
