Angela Hijjas and Hijjas Kasturi have constructed a new resort hotel, The Kasturi, at Pantai Chendor, Pahang, north of Cherating on the East Coast of Peninsula Malaysia. They have also opened a hatchery for endangered marine turtles on the beach site, buying turtle eggs from locals (mostly Green Turtles, Chelonia mydas), incubating them until they hatch, and releasing the hatchlings into the sea. An estimated 1 in 1,000 hatchlings will reach maturity, when the females will return to this beach to lay their own eggs.
If you have inquiries about visiting the hatchery or turtle release season, please contact Along who runs it – via her Facebook or by phone at +6017 223 3359.
