Rimbun Dahan is pleased to offer occasional exhibitions and open days to support our resident artists and share their artistic achievements with the Malaysian public. Rimbun Dahan resident artists also occasionally exhibit their work elsewhere in Kuala Lumpur or in their home countries.

  • Ignis Familiaris โ€” A Solo Exhibition by Amar Shahid

    Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO) celebrated its 25th year of service to women and children with a fundraising exhibition in the Underground Gallery at Rimbun Dahan.
  • Open Studios for Tim Craker, Patricia Sykes, Chang Yoong Chia and Helen Bodycomb
    Visits to the studios of Tim Craker ( a Melbourne painter turned sculptor on a 3-month self-funded residency), Patricia Sykes ( the Asialink writer for 2006), Chang Yoong Chia (the Rimbun Dahan year-long Malaysian resident), David Jolly (the Rimbun Dahan year-long Australian resident), and Helen Bodycomb (a Melbourne mosaicist on a 3-month self-funded residency) gave all an opportunity to share insights into their practices and to the experience of being at Rimbun Dahan.

Art for Nature+

Held at Rimbun Dahan from 1997 to 2012, Art For Nature was a unique showcase of artistic works created by Malaysian and international artists in support of nature conservation. Proceeds from sales of the artworks in this exhibition go towards WWF-Malaysia‘s nature conservation and wildlife protection programmes.

The Art For Nature exhibition wasย held annually in the Underground Gallery at Rimbun Dahan, from 2002 to 2005. Previous Art for Nature exhibitions, from 1997 to 2000, were not hosted at Rimbun Dahan.

  • Opening of Lisa Roet’s Exhibition at the Annexe
    Angela Hijjas gave the opening speech at the opening of In Sight, a solo art exhibition featuring new works by Australian artist Lisa Roet, at the Annexe Central Market.
  • Artriangle Exhibition Opening
    Angela Hijjas was invited to open a group show fundraising for MATAHATI Art Fund, featuring some works by former Rimbun Dahan resident artists.
  • Keynote Address for University of Melbourne Alumni Gathering
    Hijjas bin Kasturi delivered the following address to over 50 alumni of the University of Melbourne at an alumni gathering at the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre in Kuala Lumpur on 24 May 2008.
  • ‘Mouth of Flowers’ at Trocadero Art Space
    Gabrielle Bates exhibited work she had made during her residency at Rimbun Dahan in 2007 in an exhibition at Trocadero Art Space in Footscray, Melbourne. Angela Hijjas was invited to give the opening speech.
  • Opening of Collaboration ASEAN, Mager KL-Jogjakarta
    Angela Hijjas delivered the opening speech at the opening of this exhibition featuring Malaysian artists from Matahati and Indonesian artists from MIFA Foundation.
